Social Networking All Around
I like social networking alot, the upside to facebook for me is that I can keep in contact with my friends and family that are far away. For example, my father lives in Germany, but with facebook and even skype I feel just that much closer to him. The disadvantage to liking facebook soo much is that you could end up sitting there all day long (trust me I have done it). You also get caught up with all the drama that goes along with it. Businesses are using a lot of social networking these days, for example my brother works for Nestle, and literally sits on the computer half the day. It is a great way to see how your product is doing, and you can even help with complaints almost right on the spot. Even in society we have positive and negative effects, sure you can follow your favorite movie star, or athlete.. but have you seen all the back on forth on twitter?? So many twitter wars, you don't know what to really believe. I can't wait to see social networking in the next few years. With what we have so far in the computer world, and technology, its hard to imagine what we can come up with next.

Wow!!! Your dad lives in Germany? Do you go and see him at all? The farthest I've gotten is Clovis, New Mexico....LOL. I think thats a real good thing to stay in touch with your family. Even when your traveling you can always check up on your family to see how they are doing. When your away, you can use the computer to look through security video cameras setup at your house for your home security. There are some good and bad with the whole business and socializing thing. I understand that business owners want to advertise and promote their products. Sometomes there can be hoax. Coping or mimicking companies products and trying to get a cheap sell. Or they can be hackers making up websites for a fake business and get all your information. do you think it is possible that in three to five years not only social networks may evolve, but also the risks of identity thief would be higher as well?
ReplyDeleteSometimes with social networking and business, it gets too overwhelming with how many business want you to "like" them on Facebook. They tend to be obnoxious with their advertising. I see it when I stupidly "like" a product and you would think by now I would stop doing it. You get a lot of posts from various businesses that want your repeat business. I work at a ophthalmology practice that is on Facebook and the woman have to be on the site a lot during the day. I guess for them there are worse things to do then check Facebook all day. However, I would not want to be attached to that site all day.
DeleteI like what you said about having the home security while you are away from home. About being able to check your security cameras while on vacation. But look at what we have become... a society that has to have security cameras in our own homes to make sure no one bothers them. How sad we have to worry about someone prying into our lives to steal from us. It was bad enough we had to worry about pick pockets or purse thieves, but now we have to watch our financial accounts for unauthorized use.
